Cheer in IRC client

Hi,

When I try to ‘cheer’ using a IRC client it does not register with Twitch. For example in the IRC client I will send cheer10 and then I look on the Twitch website chat and it comes through as the text cheer10 and does not register as an actual cheer even though I have enough bits.

Is there some kind of Oauth permission I need? Or does it need to be sent as an action or something?

Actually it doesn’t even work in the official Android Twitch app.
