Does the rate limit extend to whispers?

If you send more than 20 commands or messages to the server within a 30 second period, you will get locked out for 8 hours automatically. These are not lifted so please be careful when working with IRC!

With the introduction of whispering specific individuals. Do these whispers count toward the limit? If not, what is the limit for sending whispers to specific individuals and separate individuals?

The TL:DR; answer to this is

  1. Whispers don’t impact your channel send limit
  2. Whispers are rate limited but the rate limit isn’t currently public and changes based on your behavior and what you’re sending.

I have found if you try to send Whispers toooo quickly you get a relevant NOTICE message.

So when connected to group chat, make sure you are consuming NOTICE’s
