It is not possible through the API to determine who gifted a sub.
The only way for 3rd party apps to track who gifts subs is to store that data yourself as those events happen.

2/14/2020 - Added
gifter_idandgifter_namefields to the Get Broadcaster Subscriptions endpoint and webhook.
This was added in February, but only for active gifts on the channel.
It’s a little unclear what you are after. The API can only return active subscriptions

Ah, my bad, I only had a quick look at the example which doesn’t contain that, rather than the response fields table. My mistake.
