If anything is planned it’ll usually get thrown into the Announcmenets section of the forums or documented on the docs
It would be immensely stupid of them to get rid of IRC in favor of Websockets, because WS is horribly unstable right now. Twitch’s chat as well as my own WS-based chat are constantly disconnecting, and I’m missing messages left and right because of it.
